Types of storage rack, and which one fits your space

We build four lines of storage rack. They differ mainly in shape, depth and how much each shelf carries — so the right one follows from the room you are fitting it into and the weight going on it.

Almost every choice comes down to three questions: how the room is shaped, how heavy the things you are storing are, and whether the rack needs to stay put. Work through those and the answer is usually obvious.

Compare the four lines

Prices are for a complete rack. Every boltless line ships with four shelves and assembles by hand without tools.

The four rack lines compared by what they suit, available sizes, maximum load per shelf and starting price
Rack line Best for Sizes Max load per shelf From
L-Shaped Rack Corners in a storeroom or HDB household shelter H198 × L70–130 × D45cm 200kg S$140
Storeroom Rack A single straight wall in a home storeroom H200 × L100–140 × D40–60cm 200kg S$160
Warehouse Rack Business stock, workshops and back-of-house stores H200–240 × L200–245 × D60cm 400kg S$420
Foldable Rack Rooms where the rack has to move or disappear 3, 4 and 5 tier — S$75

A dash means we do not publish a per-shelf rating for that line. The boltless steel racks are rated and tested per shelf level; the foldable rack is a light-duty item and is sold on size rather than load.

How to choose in five steps

  1. Look at the shape of the room. One usable wall points to a straight rack. Two walls meeting at a usable corner point to the L-shaped rack, which turns that corner into shelf instead of dead floor.
  2. Decide the depth before the length. Depth is what makes a rack feel too big in a small room. 40cm is narrow, 50cm suits most storerooms, 60cm is for bulky things and for warehouse bays.
  3. Weigh what you are storing. Household goods, tools and boxed stock sit comfortably inside the 200kg-per-shelf rating of the home lines. Trade stock, spares and bulk cartons want the 400kg warehouse grade.
  4. Ask whether it has to stay put. If the rack needs to move, come apart or vanish when guests arrive, the foldable rack is the only one in the range that does that.
  5. Measure, then confirm. Wall length, depth, ceiling height and door opening. Send those four numbers and we will tell you what fits before anything is charged.

Common to every line

One system, whichever shape you pick

The L-shaped, storeroom and warehouse racks are all the same boltless method in different grades: hooked beams drop into slots punched down each upright and lock when tapped home, then steel shelf panels sit on top and hold the frame square. No bolts to lose, no tools to buy, and nothing drilled into a wall or floor — which is what makes them legal in an HDB household shelter.

Shelf levels are adjustable on all three, so a rack bought for boxes can be re-spaced for luggage later, and extra levels can be added to uprights you already own. Whichever line you choose, delivery is a flat S$40 island-wide to homes, within 3 working days, and the rack carries the same 1 year warranty.

Really happy with this storage rack. It’s sturdy, well-made, and has plenty of shelf space. The company set up the shelf professionally, and it feels solid and stable once it’s set up. It’s made organizing my storage area a lot easier, and it looks nice and tidy too. Great for the price. definitely recommend!

Prompt respose and assistance from Serene too. Excellent service!

Frequently Asked Questions

Which rack should I choose for an HDB storeroom?

If the room gives you one usable wall, a straight boltless storeroom rack is the simplest and cheapest answer — pick 40cm depth for a narrow wall, 50cm for most rooms. If two walls meet at a usable corner, the L-shaped rack recovers space the straight rack cannot. Either way, measure the door opening before the wall; that is what usually decides it.

What is the difference between an L-shaped rack and two straight racks in a corner?

Two straight racks pushed into a corner meet at their uprights, and the block of floor behind that junction becomes unreachable. An L-shaped rack with no centre pole carries a single unbroken shelf around the corner instead, so the corner becomes shelf you can load and reach from either arm. In a small room it is often the difference between fitting and not fitting.

When do I need a warehouse rack rather than a storeroom rack?

Two triggers. The first is weight: storeroom racks are rated to 200kg per shelf, warehouse racks to 400kg. The second is span — if you need a shelf longer than 140cm or deeper than 60cm, only the heavy duty warehouse range goes there, in 200cm and 245cm bays up to 240cm tall. Home storage almost never needs it; a workshop or retail back room usually does.

Is there a rack that needs no assembly at all?

The foldable rack. It arrives built, unfolds and locks upright in seconds, and folds flat when you want the floor back — useful in a balcony, kitchen or bedroom where the rack is not permanent. The boltless lines still need assembling, though without tools or bolts; the DIY rack assembly guide covers that in order.

Do all rack types get the same delivery and warranty?

To a home — HDB, condominium or landed — one flat S$40 delivery anywhere in Singapore, within 3 working days of a confirmed order, whichever line you order and however many bays. Access and self-collection notes are on the delivery and shipping policy page. Every rack also carries the same 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects.
